Room 6 Newsletter Term 1 2012
Teaching and learning has begun in Room6 and I am pleased to report that all students are excited and focussed.
Key Concept : IDENTITY
Core subjects- English-Mathematics-Religious Education are taught every day. Our focus-
Writing – Explanation Genre. Daily Reading.
Number Knowledge and Strategy- Problem Solving- Strand Measurement
The Jesus Strand.
Visual Art- Physical Education-Social Sciences-Learning Languages-ICT-Technology@Phillipstown
Homework- this year the students have a Diary- they are encouraged to read every evening; evidenced based research in education clearly identifies homework must be meaningful to have effect. Students who are readers are able to effectively engage with their learning across the curriculum. As in previous years, any class work that is unfinished needs to be completed at home. MATHLETICS@StAnnes- wow! this is proving to be a winner already. I hope you are able to allow the students to use the internet at home. I would be making sure however that they only spend up to 25-30 minutes each evening.
YEAR 7/8 CAMP TO WAIPARA (13-16 March) All forms and gear lists will come home shortly. Students are asked to help fundraise by selling Chocolate; this will come home this week.
Teacher/Student/Parent conferencing will be on the 28-29 February, the students have begun the process of identifying their goals to take them through to the end of Term 2.
We welcome your presence in Room 6 anytime. If you need to make an appointment to see me; call in or phone the office.
Arohanui tatou,
