ROOM 6 NEWSLETTER TERM ONE 2015
Dare to dream it,work to achieve it.
Greetings to you all and welcome back, I am looking forward to working alongside the families and students in Year 7/8 this year. For those students and families who are new to our St Anne’s Community a very warm welcome.
cITIZENSHIP is our key Concept for Term One
Religious Education, English and Mathematics are our Big3 and these subjects are taught every day.
Religious Education- Prayer, Lent and the Jesus Strand.
English: Reading and Writing ( Descriptions) and our class Novel “Enders Game”
Mathematics: Number Knowledge, Number Sense and Problem Solving
Physical Education, Social Sciences, the Arts, Information Technology are integrated into the concept of CITIZENSHIP.
Technology Education involves our students traveling to the Phillipstown Manual Training Centre each Friday afternoon. Food Technology, Fabrics, Wood, Electronics, Plastics and Metal are the key areas of learning.
Learning languages- Term One Te Reo mea nga Tikanga Maori.
The Visual Arts – The Christchurch Art Gallery teachers will visit our school for a 90 minute programme about Portraiture.
Drama – We are so fortunate again to have specialist teachers come to our school to deliver this stunning programme of learning.
Education Outside the Classroom will involve our class travelling to Hororata ( a 40 minute drive from Christchurch) for an action packed 3 nights and four days. ( March 10th-13th). More information will be sent home in week two.
Physical Education -Taking advantage of the upcoming Cricket World Cup will see all of our students participating in activities around this awesome event. Kiwisport, Swim-Week, Cross Country provides all students with the opportunity to be part of a healthy, active community.

I think this will give you an overview of what we are up to, and I look forward to meeting with you all at our School Picnic Tea on the 17th February at school 5pm start.  We will also meet at our Student/Parent/Teacher Goal Setting on Tuesday March 3 and Wednesday March 4.  See Newsletter for details
We are fortunate in Room 6 to have three learning support teachers for 2015, Melanie Grice, Sharyn Beccard and Margaret Ackers, on behalf the students and myself- a warm welcome to you.
