Newsletter Room 6 Term 1
Energy
Dear Parents, Whanau, Caregivers and Students of Room6,
Welcome to Term 1. Our key concept this term is Energy.
LEARNING AREAS
The three core curriculum (Religious Education, English and Mathematics) are taught each day and Health & Physical Education, The Arts , Learning Languages, Science are either integrated or taught as individual units of learning.
Homework
is reading, and any work not completed during class time. Extension for those students who I believe will benefit from an exciting programme in English or Mathematics for Term 1, this may change in future terms to meet the strengths and interests your child.
Education Outside the Classroom we have our class CAMP. 26th February- March 1, at Glenroy Camp- Hororata.. Thanks to the parents who have made themselves available, and Mr.C who will assist me. I will send home the forms for you to complete in week 2. The cost is $80, we will have a fundraising fun afternoon in week 3, more to come on this next week via the School Newsletter.
Uniform/Learning Tools. It is really important that all students at our school wear the correct uniform. Please encourage them to wear their uniform with pride. To learn students need to be work ready: stationery, a good night's sleep, plenty to eat and physical exercise are some of the key components to success at school.
I thank you for your continued support of your children, I am really excited to be working alongside your child/children for 2013, and we have an exciting term ahead of us.
After Camp we will have a student teacher in our room, Porsha London. This year I am once again an Associate Teacher for the University of Canterbury. I believe it is important to give student teachers the opportunity to see what a great school we have. It is an opportunity to pass on my experiences as a teacher thus far, and also to learn about up to date current pedagogy and best practice in education.
Please feel free to come in and see me and the students working at any time, your presence is always welcomed. If you need to discuss any issues of a more personal nature with regard to your children call the office and make an appointment to see me.
Naku noa (yours sincerely)
Judi Parker.
